Section # 33 Parishes In Malta And Gozo
If one has a bird's eye view (from a plane) of Malta and Gozo, he will notice that every Parish Church is surrounded by houses and buildings and one can easily distinguish the different Parishes all over our islands. Someone compared this as a large brood of chickens gathered around the mother hen. The mother hen being the Parish Church and the chickens, the other buildings.
Since Malta was converted to Christianity by St. Paul the Apostle in 60 A.D., the Maltese erected churches in which they gather together to pray and to worship.
Many of the old churches were built by our forefathers and they did all sort of sacrifices to have a beautiful sanctuary built architecturally beautiful and adorned with beautiful marble works, statues, altars, and precious paintings on the inside and tall bell towers, dome and a beautiful facade on the outside.
Every Parish Church has a Patron Saint and the parishioners celebrate every year their Patron Saint in a grandiose feast.
In the 8.46 minute video below, you can seen all the parish churches in Malta and Gozo in alphabetical order. Notice the difference between the old churches and those recently built which are more plain. As you watch you will be able to listen to songs in Maltese by Enzo Guzman a very famous personality here in Malta and also abroad. At the end of the video there are several others which you may see.
Last but not least I want to say that again this is the work of Alfred and Jasmine Grech who have produced and are still producing hundreds of such videos and have thousands of wonderful photos of our islands. They kindly offered me to use their work in my blog which as you surely know, I do from time to time to enrich my blog.
