The first picture above is an aerial view of our Capital City Valletta ( built on what was called Mount Sciberras) with its two adjacent harbors that of Marsamxett and the other the Grand Harbor, as you can see on the map. The Grand harbor is one of the most beautiful natural harbors in the world. In its several creeks a lot of important activities take place. Today we are going on a quick trip round he Grand Harbor starting from the tip of Valletta where you can see Fort Saint Elmo.

Valletta Water Front by day a by night. As soon as the tourists get down from the ship, they see this beautiful, colorful place.
The inner most creek of the Grand Harbor is Marsa and its surroundings. Here is a concentration of shipping activities of all types.
On the other side of the Grand Harbor looking from Valletta one can see the prominent Fort Saint Angelo. There are several creeks. One is a dockyard and another is a marina. Kalkara creek is still used for small boats owed by local people.
Just outside the Grand Harbor there are The Mediterranean Film Facilities Studios. The studios feature two large water tanks with clear views behind them, enabling the illusion of ‘being out at sea’.
On special feasts Regata races are held in the Grand Harbor.
