Section # 8 Marsamxett Harbor Marsamxett harbor is the other harbor on the other side of the capital city Valletta. This harbor is somewhat particular because in it there is a small island which is connected to the mainland by a small bridge about thirty to forty meters long. This Island has very interesting history behind it. On it one of the Grandmasters of the Order of St. John built a fort which was named after him, Fort Manoel. The island itself is called Manoel Island. Now-a-days it is mostly used as a yacht repair center. So today we are going on a trip round Marsamxett harbor. This time we will start from the end opposite Valletta which is Tigne Point. Then we will proceed to Sliema Ferry and to Gzira where Manoel island is connected. We will see several places on this island. After this we will take a look at the Marina at Ta' Xbiex and Msida. Next there is Pieta, Floriana and lastly, Valletta. Have a good trip!
